Hooked: A love story of criminal proportions

Review: Hooked - Karla Sorensen and Whitney Barbetti - August 2017

Going into this story, I wasn't exactly sure what I was going to get, but when I saw that it was written by Karla Sorensen and Whitney Barbetti ( mainly Whitney), I knew that I wanted to read it. I have to admit it was an excellent ride and more than I could ever imagine it would take me on. The book starts at a therapy session where Lucy Connors attends as part of her parole and X who suffers from a few things - anxiety being one of them. Lucy has a dilemma as she owes her old drug dealer money and needs it fast. At her therapy session, she gives X a once over and decides he can be her new mark as he's Richie rich. Putting her cat burglar skills to the test, she breaks into X's house and is almost caught but uses her sexual wiles to get out of it. Lucy did get away with something priceless to X - his grandfather's watch. He wants it back and arrives at Lucy's place, only to see her drug dealer there. One thing leads to another, and they end up with a dead body. Of course, none of them can go to prison, so where does one put a dead body. In the basement freezer of X's house. X's mother discovers the body and things look like they are about to blow up but she proves to be very resourceful as well. Will X and Lucy get away with murder and all the other mayhem that comes with it? Find out in Hooked: A Love Story of Criminal Proportions. Hooked had everything from romance, murder and romantic comedy with lots of laughs especially the interactions between Lucy, X and X's Mother.  Hooked is a 2017 book that everyone should add to this year's reading lists.
